The venom of centipedes is a better analgesic than morphine

A new study has shown that the venom produced by centipedes (Chilopoda) to paralyze their prey is far more effective than morphine used as an analgesic for humans.

Indeed, One of the venom molecules alters the sodium channel (ion channel specific to sodium ions), making the subject indifferent to all types of pain.

What’s even more interesting is that the researchers believe that drugs based on this venom do not lead to addiction, since it does not block synaptic receptors, unlike morphine.
