The sun loses four million metric tons of its mass every second!

Our star releases every second 4.289×1012 g of its mass (4 million tonnes) in the form of energy. This seems a little excessive and hard to imagine, but it can be understood when we compare it with the overall mass of the sun itself.

Indeed, the mass of the Sun is 1.989 × 10 ^ 30 Koit; that is about 2 billion billion billion tons, which represents 99.86% of the mass of our whole solar system.

This discharge of mass makes the sun lose only 1% of its mass in 160 billion years.
