When you cry, you feed your cornea with nutrients!

The eye is one of the most complex organs of the human body and it has some features that are quite unique. In fact, the eye is responsible for the perception of light and the vision by focusing the light from the outside world on the retina through the cornea.

The cornea is composed of cells which require oxygen and nutrients. It therefore extracts oxygen from tears. Nutrients are provided to the cornea also through tears by the diffusion process.

So the next time someone asks you why you cry, say that you’re just feeding your cornea.
