Cherophobia is the exaggerated fear of joy!

Cherophobia is the fear of cheerfulness, happiness and joy. The word « Chero » is Greek in origin meaning joy, cheerfulness, and « phobia » means fear.

Like most phobias, Cherophobia is born due to a stimulus such as a traumatic experience at an early age.

People are usually afraid of joy because they think something tragic is going to happen after that happiness.
